This kind of product looks very appealing when there is no retail Mark up on it and you buy direct from the manufacturer.

The real issue is that the aldi offering is not a stocked line. They cannot meet demand at that price, and you cannot buy at that price every day.
Bringing an order together on a cash up front basis would eliminate any issues with capital and allow buying power greater than that of the individual alone.
Even with the size of AULRO I think you would struggle to get 100 takers even less likely to get 200.

I have no idea what the difference between FOB and delivered to your House/warehouse would be.

I previously got in some LED lights and I got a lot less takers than what you would need for a consignment of 200.

I rocked up to the Drysdale Aldi @ 8.25am for the compressor. Don't really need it........... have a 30 year old $16 job that still works, and a new ARB thing in the spare 2 door and an endless air just sitting loose in the back of same.

100 metre long queue........... doors open on time..........minor argy bargy....... plenty of awnings getting loaded in trolleys.

Would have been about 20 winches and 50 compressors on the floor.

Bit surprised with the size and weight of the compressor (big). Impressed with the quality.......... clamps and cord top class. Pumps air like no tomorrow.

Can't imagine pumping bike tyres......... they'd pop in 2 secs haha.

Really the sort of thing that should be hard wired in and run through a tank.

    Nice though.

    cheers, DL

I bought two of them, they look like very good value for money and I reckon its better to have two average compressors than good one.

    Cheap Compressor Comparison

However being an ebay jobby I have always had a concern that it might fail at the wrong time, so in view of the positive comments on here I also bought the Aldi compressor.

Later I will let two of my old 9.00x16 tyres down and will do a comparison between the two compressors.

Ok I did the test this afternoon.

The contestants - the $70 ebay jobby - 150psi, 150l/min twin cylinder, 30 min duty cycle, non painted cooling fins.

The Aldi Compressor - $100 - 150psi, 150l/min single cylinder, 20 min duty cycle, painted cooling fins.

In theory the Ebay compressor has a slight advantage - better duty cycle, twin cylinders and the non painted cylinders should allow better heat transfer.

Outside temp was 16 degrees, each has its own battery, the same type and fully charged. The wheels are my 101 9.00x16 tyres (basically narrow 35"), fully deflated.

Both compressors run at the same time for exactly 5 minutes and then the pressures of the tyres measured with a digital tyre gauge.

The results - Ebay compressor 34.5 PSI - not bad for a 35" tyre.
    ALDI Compressor 40.5 PSI.

So the winner is Aldi by a good margin. Also the ALDI compressor was only warm to touch where the Ebay compressor was very hot but not burning to touch so I doubt the 30min duty cycle of the ebay compressor but I have to say the thermal cutout has never cut in and once hot the ebay compressor has not got hotter.

So the Aldi compressor is better but it does cost nearly 50% more than the ebay compressor and is physically larger.

The ALDI one runs much better with engine on as it draws 50 amps.

My Aldi still has a stack of hi-lift jacks for $89 and 40 watt folding solar panels to $179. So far I've resisted temptation.

    "New" 2000w inverter gen. set

EDIT: Sorry Mod: didn't read previous posts and thought this was a general thread on Aldi stuff... move it as you think fit

With the storm season approaching I was tempted with today's Aldi offering of a 2000w (surge max) 1600W -rated, 4 stroke inverter gen set 3-yr warranty for $499.

The Kelvin Grove store had about 6 or more early this morning. Then I looked at the noise rating: 92dB that's about 10 times louder than the occupational health limit of 75dB... plus there's no mention of whether the inverter is pure sine wave or square...

I was sorely tempted... I've searched for details but have not been able to find anything of a review nature on this latest offering... so I let it go... for now.

Anyone buy one or have any info ?

    cheers
