Cheap Compressor Comparison

However being an ebay jobby I have always had a concern that it might fail at the wrong time, so in view of the positive comments on here I also bought the Aldi compressor.
Later I will let two of my old 9.00x16 tyres down and will do a comparison between the two compressors.

Ok I did the test this afternoon.
The contestants - the $70 ebay jobby - 150psi, 150l/min twin cylinder, 30 min duty cycle, non painted cooling fins.

The Aldi Compressor - $100 - 150psi, 150l/min single cylinder, 20 min duty cycle, painted cooling fins.

In theory the Ebay compressor has a slight advantage - better duty cycle, twin cylinders and the non painted cylinders should allow better heat transfer.
Outside temp was 16 degrees, each has its own battery, the same type and fully charged. The wheels are my 101 9.00x16 tyres (basically narrow 35"), fully deflated.
Both compressors run at the same time for exactly 5 minutes and then the pressures of the tyres measured with a digital tyre gauge.
The results - Ebay compressor 34.5 PSI - not bad for a 35" tyre.
ALDI Compressor 40.5 PSI.
So the winner is Aldi by a good margin. Also the ALDI compressor was only warm to touch where the Ebay compressor was very hot but not burning to touch so I doubt the 30min duty cycle of the ebay compressor but I have to say the thermal cutout has never cut in and once hot the ebay compressor has not got hotter.
So the Aldi compressor is better but it does cost nearly 50% more than the ebay compressor and is physically larger.
