Thanks for the tip Digger, I'll be going to get one of those awnings. Cheap and cheerful is good enough for me

Aldi is an excellent alternative. The more choice the better I say. Their quality seems quite good too. Very happy with their dishwasher we bought recently, for example.

    You have gotta be quick

Went down to Aldi a little while ago to get an awning but already sold out. You have gotta be quick.

By the size of the bin they would have only had 2 or 3.

There is one on ebay that looks of reasonable quality that is of bigger area and only $20 more expensive so I think I will get that one.

You are right you need to be quick...

I wandered down to my local Aldi about 10 minutes before opening this morning..... there was a queue of probably 40 people waiting

WTF....this is s supermarket people @_@ - they only had 4 of those awnings when they opened.

I picked up one of the 40W Solar panel kits.... looks like a useful addition when camping.

Just looked further on ebay - plenty of awnings for the same price or just a few dollars more (including delivery) as the Aldi item - no doubt the same quality.

The winches were staying on the shelves this time - virtually none sold.

Are there many air compressors available?
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

    Back on sale today

Just a heads up - if you're after an air compressor, the Aldi one is on sale again today (16/8/2014) but I suggest if you get in quick if you want to get your hands on one.

There was a few left at my local Aldi as of 10:30am. Comes in a sturdy looking case.

I used a friends one recently to air up after a beach trip and it was quick. He rates the unit pretty well.

You waited for 2.5hr for the store to open - that's keen! Did you get anything else? The awnings apparently grew legs and ran out the door!
