For example the Kingone winches have a longer gearbox as the brake is on the end.
12,000Lb winches are often bigger than 10,000lb winches as the motor can be longer , although Kingone just have diferent gearing.
So get the measurements before you start.
Another thing to look at is the position of the slot in the bullbar.
Some bullbars , particularly bullbars that have a front mount rather than bottom, need an offset fairlead for Dyneema eg ARB for Ford Ranger.
You would not believe the variations by car by bullbar brand. When I sold winches the customers often expected you to know every variation, but when you would call the importer they would say Duhhh? Dunno!
