Most winches have a standard bolt pattern.
BUT several winches have different dimensions.
For example the Kingone winches have a longer gearbox as the brake is on the end.
12,000Lb winches are often bigger than 10,000lb winches as the motor can be longer , although Kingone just have diferent gearing.

So get the measurements before you start.

Another thing to look at is the position of the slot in the bullbar.

Some bullbars , particularly bullbars that have a front mount rather than bottom, need an offset fairlead for Dyneema eg ARB for Ford Ranger.

You would not believe the variations by car by bullbar brand. When I sold winches the customers often expected you to know every variation, but when you would call the importer they would say Duhhh? Dunno!

I've removed the 12,000lb winch the ute I'm selling and hope to install it in my new Disco. The B/Bar is a Alloy TJM Winch bar I believe, but looking at it I will still need to make up a Steel mounting plate that will also bolt to the mounting brackets for added strength....

My zook is a different in the fact that the B/bar is not a winch bar and therefore I've got to cut it to get the winch in to start with then also make up a steel mounting bracket..... but I was sort of hoping that say a 6000lb > 7500lb winch maybe slightly smaller in width at least which would enable less mods to the B/bar to get it in....

Good luck getting anything but a small framed winch (6000lb Warn??) to fit in the bulbar on the Suzi. Mind had a 9500lb Premier, that's now on my Disco, mounted above the chassis rail height in a tube bar.

So, would a 6000lb have a smaller mounting dimensions then ??

From memory, the 6000 has the standard 10" x 4.5" mounting bolt pattern. Overall winch dimensions vary tho.


Its the length and diameter that will be the killer with the Suzuki.

You can get small sized 'rock crawler" winches but they don't take much rope.

Thats an option for a Suzuki, and carry a couple of extension straps.


The 9000lb work well on mine, but its size had it sitting in front of the grill and nil chance of it fitting any factory made bar for a Suzuki without major surgery. No so good if your after a more discrete fitment.


The ARB winch bar for the Sierra was suppose to be able to take a M6000 Warn, but no bigger.


I would also look carefully at the bar mountings if using anything bigger than a 6000lb, there is not a lot attaching them, 4 x 3/8" bolts from memory.
