In our backyard, just a suburban backyard, we have frogs, birds and even the occasional bandicoot. Our useless neighbours have two cats which they release outside at night, these two disgusting, feral mongrels come over on a regular basis and kill the frogs, the odd bird and I don't know whether they've ever taken one of our resident bandicoots but I would not at all be surprised. We now do not get on with these neighbours having asked them repeatedly to keep their cats indoors and being treated as though WE are harassing them! The best bit? The blokes job is head ranger with the Kwinana Shire, a part of his job is to enforce cat registrations with the shire and to encourage people to keep their cats indoors - especially at night. What a tosser!

If we were all allowed to make a contribution to controlling these animals we might get somewhere.

Its considered cruel to trap rabbits now.....I think rabbit traps may be illegal.

I used to shoot thousands of rabbits, hundreds of foxes , hundreds of pigs , any feral cat I saw.

I used to feed many families with goats and rabbits and the odd roo, but I'm not allowed to now.

There are thousands of Australians , just like me , who had to stop hunting just because of stupid laws.

It's too late now....these feral numbers far outweigh our population and we will never reel it back.

We could , with the help of our armed forces , start to eradicate some of these menaces but which political party would make that call?

Do you mean the general buyback in 96? That doesn't mean you can't still hunt, it's just more troublesome to maintain the paperwork and go through the licensing, but it's still do-able.

We need more numbers and maybe the government will repeal some of the silly legislation.

(and yes even possessing steel traps is illegal, in SA anyway)

Using a sledgehammer to drive nail in, if out hunting and you are using an "Overkill" and the opportunity arises that you can do nature a favor to eradicate a introduce pest then do it. Do you Leave it alone as you are overgunned and allow to to breed up to further the problem,? I don't think so.

As mentioned earlier about the Cat coping flack and what about the other pests.
After the Massive bushfires that Victoria went through a couple of years back many of the Victorian deer population has ended up in our neighborhood local forests and national parks.
The Government has allowed regulated Deer Shooters to come in and Cull hundreds of deer as they are becoming a pest in destruction of flora and doing damage to residents properties. We are talking about a couple hundred of Sambar and and a couple hundred Fallow deer. Special requirements are need for these shooters to shoot in the national park. And not during high public visiting times.
