Interesting point - I like it ;)

Referring to Eevos post - People driving from A to B (and possible C or back to A) is always a motorists goal. And regardless of the type of trip theres always a determination to make that trip as efficiently as possible - within a time frame etc..

Now back to your reference about enjoying the drive...

Is taking your time to stop and smell the Roses a bad thing? Absolutely not...

What I don't like hearing is "I like to drive and look around" - often referred to by people travelling (not standing observing) - If an individual is driving correctly and observing the road, potential intrusions to the driving space etc they will not be "looking around" - as an example on many a trip up the highway and back my wife (passenger) quite often tells me of something new or different on a hill, out in the paddock etc...

I don't see a lot of this unless its in my field of observation as I'm busy watching the traffic, road, verges etc....

Funny you say that - worst offenders on a recent trip to Mexico... Mexicans!!!

Just out of Ballarat... Speeding well above (over +30km/h) the posted works signs, overtaking on DWLs, cutting off drivers and overtaking in generally dangerous fashion.


In Adelaide - drivers are only doing 25km/h because every second road has major road works :cool:

I did that just yesterday. :D

I backed the 101 out of the driveway to park it out the front of the house while doing some work in the back yard - it took me 45 minutes as I went via Gisbourne and Riddells Creek - but they weren't destinations, just towns I drove through. :)

Just for the drive - no destination other than getting back home again when I felt like it. Don't you ever go for a drive, just to drive or go for a ride, just to ride? It's one of my favourite past times. You don't have to get to anywhere, just enjoy the road.

Yes, I agree - you still have to be switched on and paying attention to the driving bit, not looking about the place admiring the flowers, but I enjoy driving, just for drivings sake.

Now I drive A to B then B to A. Rather boring, really.
I'll be driving from B to A tonight. Might go via C. (C being a point between B and A but not on the usual A to B route.)

I remember dad going crook on NSW drivers for their speed when in Vic.
He moved to NSW, albeit on the border (Albury region), and then complaining some more about NSW driving habits. Once he settled in, all was well in the land of NSW ;)

I learnt to drive on the Mornington Peninsula,,, dad used to say I should move up to NSW,, haha, funny that :D

Myself, I'm what's known as an aggressive driver, but that doesn't mean I'm angry, that just means I'm looking out for everybody else's ****ups, and making sure I'm outta' their way.
Last night on the way home, I'm in the right hand lane (4lane intersection), I take off, sparing no neddies, and low and behold, some clown on my left somewhere, tries to get in front of me to turn right. Do I slow down and let him in???? Na, you should have planned your turn pal. ***** toots me as he cuts me off!!! No wonder people get road rage, he's lucky I had preservation in mind for my Mrs who was with me.
These arrogant tossers should not be allowed on the road.

As for looking around whilst driving,,, you mean there's something different to do??? :angel:

Of course the best way to learn to drive a car is to ride a motorcycle. You soon learn to read the minds of all the drivers within one square Kilometre. Although you have to be prepared to be shocked and appalled.:angel:

The Navigator and I have a joke about this: we say, "Not lost, just exploring."

And if you spend some time going from A to B then off to C and D and then back again,and sit in the passengers seat,or for that matter any seat that is not behind the wheel,you will be amazed at the things you see.

These things will be missed if you were driving.
