What an amazing response from those who will not even know it exists....unless they subscribe.

Reading the conditions to participate on it IMO it is the same as the old forum The Cantina which did not worked out because the moderators did not want it in AULRO.
What it is the difference now?
How long will be for those that do not like the topics on it or in the way that members behave to ask admin to close the forum?
I can see already that there are members that are expressing negative views about it even before starting any discussion.
One thing that I cannot understand it is why those that do not like the topic in a thread keep reading it?
it is almost like the behavior of the silly old farts dogooders in our society, they like to tell others what, where and when activities are allowed.

I will get my chocolate peanuts while reading the reaction of others ...............

Lets see how it goes, at present there are only two Mods involved in Moding the new section or even seeing what goes on in there so unlikely there will be any feedback from other Mods not liking how it is going.

At present the two Mods involved are myself and Mick_Marsh.
    Cheers,
    Terry

Its there for those Land Rover owners who also like to debate topics other than just talk about their Land Rovers.

Again its a closed section that is only there for those who want to be involved. Why get cranky about something that you can't see?
AGREE, and I think the idea is excellent.
There are some on this Forum who actually seem to like an "aggro" situation, with comments of "close the thread", "I'll get the valium", "I can see this thread coming to a sticky end"?....WHY. If ya don't like it, don't read it.
My other suggestion is, that if a member posts an aggressive/abusive comment (as judged by mods)in a thread, it should ONLY BE THAT MEMBER'S post that is deleted, rather than the whole thread. That way, offenders will learn that if they want their comments to be viewed, they should be posted in the correct manner.

Agree my friend, As I said in my post, some members seem to want things to fail, in this case,...... before they even start.

Perhaps an new way to discuss politics is to talk about the merits or the negative aspects of a policy without come in a defensive mode of a particular political party.
I have noticed that political debates become aggressive when debating which party have done better or worse instead of just talk about the policy in question.
Regarding religion (I do not follow any of them) I can understand why it can be a touchy topic. Again, perhaps we can address the issues instead of the religion so we do not unintentionally offend some one.
We have to respect and appreciate the views of others that are formed by different experiences in life. Perhaps, if try to understand them we will not start calling people "anti something".
It would be nice if it works, we can learn a lot from each other

I think the mods who are prepared to take this on are to be commended.

It appears to me that it has been made very easy for those who don't think it should exist to ignore it. In fact if its existence had not been mentioned in this thread, they probably would not have even been aware of it.

There are clearly some people here who want to discuss current affairs and it has been made possible for them to do so without upsetting those who don't.

Time will tell whether the enterprise succeeds.

Those rules are so comprehensive that it appears that they may have been written, at least in part, by someone who is accustomed to dealing with FX Superbike riders who spend their lives looking for loopholes in the rules to gain an unfair advantage.

The new area sounds like a great idea TerryO.

Don't listen to all the nay-sayer's... just get on with a respectful, modern, debate (and dialogue) on some current and challenging topics. There is a real benefit to some of us gained from speaking (err typing) their minds and trying to understand the opinions in others minds.

It's true we do mostly come here for Landy knowledge. However, the forum is more than just that alone and is not a true online community if it excludes or curtails participation of some simply for their personality differences, varying opinions or delivery styles.

Good on you and Mick for being prepared to take it on and do it at arms length as non contributors. I believe that (if you stay sane!) you will help make AULRO a more complete community once again.

I haven't been around for a while, but we will surely have to let Andrew Bolt know so he has somewhere safe to express himself openly once again!!!

    Good Luck!

P.S. It's funny how around here we need to put this "open thought and speech" into a dark, secret hidden hole... but, well, you gotta start somewhere, hey?

This thread seems a bit heated and should be moved to this new section. There are a few opinions in it that I don't agree with.

Yeah but if I move it I can't argue with you as I'm a Mod in that section ... So I'll leave it here so we can debate your comments merits ....
