When they stopped learning how to diagnose things themselves and starting relying a computer to do that for them, now they just throw parts at cars until it's fixed.

I had/have a mate, old bugger, Reg Ansett's first apprentice, worked in the same workshop in Hamilton for nearly 50 years, now he was a mechanic. :)

I am not up with latest information on the VW saga. I can only assume it is not affected as they purchased the vehicle a few weeks back.
Latest generation of Amarok is not affected Frank. They have an updated engine, which does not include the "cheat" programming.;)
Shaun has checked, and his is not subject to any re-call / update etc. also very easy to check on the VW website which models are affected.
But even those which are affected have no problem being registered in any state in Australia. They are not in breach of current Australian emissions standards.
