Rain and such

Well I got away with it. No damage to cars or home(that I know of at the moment anyway) as a result of the storms although maybe one possible leak at home.

The cheese'n'kisses had to drive from bracken Ridge to town to pick me up and then home again which obviously took hours! It seems a lot of the hail was dumped on boondall so was largely exhausted by the time it got to bracken ridge.

Sorry to hear you had damage to the subie ranga. Maybe time to grab a FL2 while everyone is upgrading to disco sports.

It was a fun night, I was stuck on some units at Cooparoo for almost five hours. But at least I was getting paid for the privilege.

Unfortunately that was one of the rare days I decided to drive the Disco to work. I haven't had much of a chance to look at it in daylight but it was resembling a golf ball in some places when I got back to sign off.

i remember that one in the mid eighties,i was driving back to the workshop at Eagle Farm,it broke all the windows on one side of the work panel van,and both tail lights.Hail was piled up a meter against the fences.

I was badly bruised on my arms,holding a plastic folder up trying to stop the hail hitting my face:(

Eventually when i could see better,and things had died down, i started driving and drove into a deep pool of water,the van stalled,i opened the door to spray some CRC over the engine,and water flowed into the van,it was freezing as there was a lot of hail floating on the water.

The worse storm i had ever been in.

That storm in the 80's, my Mum & Dad were in town, cleaning an office block. Sister at home, the storm hit, lost the roof, ceiling, she had to hide under the kitchen table , with the dog. Bob

Glad to hear no one was hurt.

Equally glad my flight got out of Brisbane shortly before the storm. :angel:

Ranga... that sucks badly, but had you been on the bike, it would have sucked more....hope it doesn't take too long to get repaired.... I'd imagine that business will be brisk for some.

I remember that one, it was on my 19th birthday. Went out on the town and ended up in hospital with a broken arm.

SWMBOs Subaru Outback was officially written off today by Shannons. Forgot to ask about buy-back, as I wasn't really intending to anyway, but I'm now curious what they would have said.

I hear they are pretty quick to write off vehicles. Is that what you found?
True also that you drive in get assessed and if a write-off have the keys taken off you right there?

Mine was towed to the assessor, so just had to wait for the phone call. The original rep told me to remove all personal belongings, as a write-off would mean I wouldn't see the car again.

I had agreed value, so the conversation with the assessor was quite amicable. I got the feeling that the assessor was pleased I took it so well. I imagine there's plenty of people receiving unwelcome quotes on their write-off.

I thought about buying it back or buying another hail damaged vehicle, but not sure they're actually that much of a bargain.
