Now now..
You know it was the SECOND best vehicle I've owned. Our VN Commodore was number 1...
thanks for all the replies guys.
Ths week I have a hire car provided by RACV Total Care, so I'm fine but Gav, I may need t take you up on your kind offer if they don't get my car back to me over the w/e. I'll give you a call.
The car was finally back in Shepp today, hopefully they can get it right by Friday. They have offered to deliver it back to me on Saturday if its 'right'..... which it bloody well better be!
I'd offer the VR but I'm using it.
All the others are either too bloody unreliable or uncomfortable.
Well...... it appears the the Torque Converter broke something off of the oil pump which caused 2 of the clutches to **** themselves. Lots of metal bits have gone through all the important bits.
Basically, another total rebuild is underway. Thank god it's under warranty!
The TC was supplied by someone in Melbourne (brand new). There is now a **** fight over who's paying for what. I've pointed out that I am not involved in this 'discussion' as it simply is not my problem. All I want is my car back.
Just got told this morning that it is very unlikely that will happen before Wednesday next week:(, maybe Tuesday if the new TC and replacement pump arrives on Monday (pump is coming from Brisbane by air freight).
This has been a very expensive exercise for them. The new pump is apparently $500 plus all the other bits (clutches etc). Not to mention labour, but I guess they have to be paid anyway.
The worst part is, had I been taken seriously with the issues I raised from day one, most of these costs could have been avoided. As I told the guy the other day, "I don't know much about auto boxes.... But I DO know when they aren't working properly!"
Hopefully this will be a lesson well learned for him.
Well..... it looks as though this saga is nearly over..... permanently this time I hope!
Apparently everything is now working as it should and the car will be delivered back to Melbourne sometime on Sunday.
I sincerely hope it's all done properly.... I leave for work to Donald on Monday night then Kerang and Swan Hill, back Wednesday night. Then on 26th, off I go to Brisbane and Noosa.
Not much time for assessment but the work trip is a 'must do' and the trip to Qld has been planned for months...... this will be the true test, coming back through the Snowy on tracks for 5 days (see upcoming trips, 'Adaminaby to Omeo').
If it breaks, I'll just climb a mountain..... he'll hear me without Telstra coverage I can assure you:o
I meant to say a huge thanks to Gav for the lend of the mighty Vectra:D
Really not a bad little buzz box LOL
Well, hopefully this will be the very last post in this thread from me.
The old girl was delivered back to me at Gav and Yvonne's place last night. drove her home to Ringwood and well.... everything appears as it should be. the shifts are smooth and precise and the entire drive train seems quieter and smoother (mind you I have been driving the Vectra for the last week;)).
I really hope that this is the end.
This is caused by muppet installation of the TC into the pump and then pooching the initial aligment of the TC to the flex plate.
I had to learn the hard way, but fortunately my customer was happy for me to hold up ordering in and setting up the replacement box till I was happy Id investigated and traced the cause of the error.
