While I will say that the MT/R's are great all-round off-road tyre, they do tend to wear a bit quicker than I like, especially since thay are not exactly cheap.
Done 23,000 kms on them and 3 out of 4 are worn almost half way, one has done 3,000 kms since I had to replace one (huge chunk out of the sidewall, irrepairable so I was told).
May look at the new design Cooper STT because thay do make a 255/85 unlike the Goodyear's. I find 285's too wide for a Rangie. I was seriously contemplating them but the 255 is at least a half inch taller and a inch less in width at 10.7 compared to 11.8 or something for the 285's. Height of the 255's are 33.3 compared to 32.8 inches for 285's.
From my experience, wide tyres DONT work on Rangies full stop!! Some may beg to differ, but just based on what I have seen this draws my conclusion.
