I've had the same issue with timeouts Frank, when typing long posts or when interrupted while typing posts - not so much on this forum but on another that I'm on occasionally work related.

The trick that I use if I know that this might be a possibility is to not type directly into the forum. I keep a word processor open (either MS Word or Notebook) and type what I want to into that. When I'm happy with what I've typed, I simply copy it all and paste into the appropriate text entry box in the forum. Once posted successfully, I just delete what's in the word processor (unless I want to keep it for some reason).

Has saved me more than once from timeouts - even power failures etc provided you've got the word processor set on auto save. ;)

I'm with Tank on this. Me too being a two finger hack. I do the opposite of above. If I am doing a fairly lengthy post, when about half way through it I copy and paste it into a word doc as back up.

You idea is probably better, although a lot of my long posts usually are intended to not be so. It's just that as I am typing away more things just pop into my head.

Probably just me not having a clue, but since the changes I seem to have lost email notifications of subscribed threads and the subscribed threads in User CP seems to only randomly show updated threads.

When the changes first happened it threw me a bit but I'm already used to it.
Seems OK.

My only gripe with the forum is if i hit the "new posts " button more than once it makes me wait 30 seconds.
The pages seem to load quite slow and there is no real indication that it is searching so its easy to give it another click just to be sure. Do that and your locked out for 30 seconds.
