I like it, LR and RR threads are at the top and the 'social" threads further down the page.
I would like to see "moderators on line" names at the top as well
hope you've noticed the new layout..

I suggest moving the General forums up to be below Technical. I think they are more important than the Markets, Suppliers, Trips, and the Special Interest Groups, etc.
So:
Admin
Pinnacles
Technical
General
Trips
Markets (this could go below Special Interest)
Special Interest
Recommended Suppliers
then the Clubs

New layout works for me...
I preferred the old format, seemed a bit more progressive to go from General chat to technical and onto the pinnacles.

I hardly noticed that it had changed.
I did what I have always done. As soon as the site opened I clicked on "New Posts" so that I can scan for threads that might be interesting.
I sometimes get a chuckle out of reading of Disco and Rangie owners complaining that their electric window winders are giving trouble again or the central locking has them locked out of the car, or they can't get the temperature right on their electrically heated seats, or their cup holder aren't the right size for their new latte mugs.
So it doesn't matter much to me where things are placed on that opening page.
