... I got called a troll for posting the same observation

But then I realised it was by a committee member of a recreational riding club

So beware, the extremist groups patrol this thread...

Not being a mamil myself but having done the odd triathlon, also being a father teaching the children to ride safely...surely common sense will eventually result in restricting bikes to roads where speed limits are 50 or less or suitably wide and marked with a bike lane, or for controlled events like the TDU, front and back markers and publicised event times.

This would likely reduce the bulk of serious injuries??.

There is a wide spectrum of bike riders, from kids in back streets and on footpaths riding to school, to those riding around cities and parks or in bike lanes to work, then those that want to mix with high speed metal in 80-110kph zones.

The latter group and those that push the envelope on main roads without the safety of bike lanes seem to generate the most attention in this thread, not the kids and safety conscious commuter. But I'm sure I'm wrong and trolling again

And if you cycle without a bell, GET ONE (and a mirror as I've written before)

    Hi,
The new rules are working well locally. I live near a narrow, windy road going over Bonnet Hill.
It follows the original bullock track, now with a coating of bitumen, and is a major access route.
I' m noticing oncoming drivers keeping well over to the left in anticipation of me overtaking a cyclist on a straight.
It is 60 limited, and double lines for about 6 km.
    Cheers
