So tell me I'm wrong, are FPR and HSV vehicles hotted up family sedans?,are they the same as they were 20 years ago?,do they both use crate motors?,are they both regular seen on the news upside down or wrapped around tree's?,I can go on but is the answer to any of those questions no?. Pat
Yes you are wrong there not even that same as they were 5 years ago. as for being upside down and wraped around trees some actual stats on this would be intresting for the number sold v numbers crashed bet its no better or worse then any other make And no the the ford turbo six is an australian built and designed engine from the ground up. I think both company's bring there v8 engines in from the u.s but I could be wrong
Guys, when you're all finished swinging your cocks around lets get back on topic hey :)
After reading a few posts it sounds like the Freelander is a good thing, not something I would want but still a good car. I picked up an old issue of 4X4 Australia magazine from July this year that had an article rating all the compact SUV's on sale in Australia. But for some reason? there is no Freelander mentioned. Can anyone shed some light on this? The top ten is as follows.
#1-Subaru Forester 2.5i-L
#2-Mitsubishi Outlander LS
#3-Hyundai ix35 Elite
#4-Renault Koleos Bose
#5-Toyota Rav4 GXL
#6-Honda CR-V VTi-L
#7-Mazda CX-5 Maxx Sport
#8-Volkswagen Tiguan 132TSI Pacific
#9-Nissan X-Trail ST-L
#10-Ford Kuga Trend EcoBoost
The Mazda is the biggest selling in this segment and is outselling Prado and Grand Cherokee. Without being Land Rover biased I would have thought the Freelander would be a better car than the ones mentioned above.
Out of that list, I have driven current models of both the X-trail and the Forester. They both drive quite well - the Forester is far better than the X-trail, so that bit is right from my experience, but I would rate the FL2 at least as good as the Forester, but with a better build quality - not that the Subaru is bad in that department either. The FL2 stops better and has a better driving position IMO. Can't really comment on engines as the FL2 was diesel and the Forester a petrol - which went very well by the way, but the diesel in the FL2 was also very nice. It should certainly be in that list - if not top, then close to it.
Edit - driven the Tiguan as well I just realised - that was much better than the X-trail as well...
