Hi,
You have a tallent there that must bring joy and happiness to yourself and your subjects.
I can barely draw water.
Have a good one!
Cheers

Poor old fella is nearing eighty.
Anyway, Merry Chrismas.
Cheers, I think.

I reckon we should have a section for you in this forum, olbod. It could be called "The Gallery".
I know a few people who call themselves artists. They do paint nice pictures but, when they do a portrait, the portrait always look a little odd. They don't quite get it right.
Yours are nothing like theirs. I reckon they are the most difficult pieces of art to produce.
In your sketches I can see what I call skill. Others may call talent. Call it what you wish.
In short, I can't believe you drew these. You've got a computer program that converts pictures to sketches. Come clean.
Have you entered any is shows? You should.
No Mick, no magic tricks just years of practice.
My aunty was a prominent portrait artist and she taught me that art from about when I was three.
I do use the computer and Coral Draw to store the works in.
Over time sketches fade or get damaged.
One problem with putting them in the pc is that pixels can bleed for some reason.
But I can print copies and give them as gifts to the families.
I have just finished a commision of a young lady that her Granny wants to present to her on her 21'st in February.
Cant put here yet as she might get wind of it.
I have drawn and painted many portraits, and figure studies of women and girls over the years for commisions.
I am just now getting back into it.
I use good quality pencil and graphite for the work.
Below is a couple of pencil examples done more than thirty years ago.
I didn't go into as much detail then but you can see how I go about it.
Cheers.
Just a thought with bleeding pixels, can you scan at a higher resolution,
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
apologies to Socrates
Clancy MY15 110 Defender
Clancy's gone to Queensland Rovering, and we don't know where he are
Quite possibly Andy.
It doesn't really bother me.
Problem I think is the fact that at the moment I am using a cheap $40 scanner printer.
Produces rubbish going in and back out.
For those that may be interested and maybe wanting to have a go.
When I am preparing for a portrait or series of sketches for an oil painting,
I will use many tools to get the work done.
For instance, in these pics there maybe pencil, charcoal, ink and even perhaps touches of water colour all in together to create the effect that I am looking for.
Some sketches and little portraits can take a couple of days or even weeks
before I am satisfied.
I have a various set of tools with pens of different sizes etc..
In the unfinished painting of Valery ( she will eventually be a Siren calling seamen to their death, bitch ) but you can already see that I am looking for a very realistic rendition of the model, the background will be much looser and fictionalised so that the whole thing does not look like a photo
copy.
A lot of artists have a different approach, that's what's so interesting about art.
I like Norman Lindsey's work.
Cheers.
Love it Robert!....
You certainly have some talent, every time I see more of you work I am really impressed.
Thank you for sharing..
Mark
