Hi we do have a trailer that we do use. But if it will fit in the wagon than we do not have to take the trailer.
Also I do not do any towing, wouldn't know how to back a trailer, I will just leave it up to you guys.;)

Have you looked at the Holden Commodore Sportwagon? They are available in varying trim levels, and a low K version would be well within your price range.
Pickles.
Having driven many kilometers in a diesel Mondeo Wagon (for work), I can highly recommend them.
Plenty of grunt, delightful to drive, very economical on fuel, reliable and lots of room.
In fact , given Ford have the Mondeo in their line-up, I can understand why they no longer needed the Falcon. The Mondeo is a better car in most respects.
Not sure what they're like to work on, as the local Ford dealer did all that stuff.

I know they don't come in wagons Heather, but you'd look real cool in one of these.
If Mario really loved you.....................;)
The only problem is Mario couldn't get in one of those, to low for him. That's why he has the disco+2.;)
He won't have time to get in it, he'll be too busy working to pay it off. :D
Have a drive of a Territory if you like your Falcon. We have a AWD Ghia Turbo, its a rocketship. The diesel version is said to be very economical,it has the D3 motor/gearbox.

I have been very impressed with the VW Passat, but you said no 4 cylinder, so a Commode Wagon.
