    Nanny State Again

Here we go again. The sale of unpasteurized milk sold for cosmetic use is being banned.
Now I know a lot of people are buying this to drink, but providing it is clearly labelled "Not For Human Consumption" and people choose to drink it then that is their business.

Metholated spirits is sold as a fuel and cleaning agent. Some people drink it, so lets ban it.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I heard on TV that Victoria was going to compel a gagging agent to be added to cosmetic milk, just as it is to metho.
The difference between metho and cosmetic milk is that parents are not giving metho to young kids and babies.

The problem is that many are drinking it and there was a recent death. Sometimes you need to save people from themselves.

My uncle had a dairy farm. When we were kids we drank raw milk all the time. But we ate what we were given as well. I couldn't care less what adults drink, milk, metho or Guinness but there seemed to be, at least to me, less allergies to food stuffs when we were kids. I don't think young children have the robustness of past generations as far as food tolerance is concerned and when parents feed raw milk to kids it's just plan irresponsible.
I'm sure that thousands of country kids on dairies are fed raw milk with no ill effects. But city kids don't have the exposure country kids do. But unfortunately we pass legislation to protect the stupid.

    Just my thoughts.

Yes, I remember dipping the bucket into the vat and, once the milk was home, on several occasions I picked a cow hair out.
Also, they make cheese (not all cheese) out of raw milk for human consumption. Many other countries use raw milk for human consumption.
I think it is clear the responsibility of what happened should rest with those who purchased the products in full knowledge they were not intended for human consumption and used it for purposes the producer did not intend.
I'm with you here, Dave, nanny state indeed.

Been plenty of deaths from alcohol. Let's ban that too.
And water. Plenty of people have died drinking too much of it.

    As I said Nanny State.

I suspect the problem is not so much the unpasteurised thing, but the fact this milk wouldn't probably be handled in a food safe manner, as would milk intended for consumption. Fresh milk on the farm doesn't go through factory packing and all the rest. We have some un harmoginised (?) brands down here, sooo much nicer than the fully processed stuff

Absolutely right, It is intended as a beauty product and marked accordingly. Unfortunately, there are people who ignore these warnings and information on the packet.
Sometimes people should be responsible for their own actions.
