G'day, Vlad
1970 saw the Series 2a still in production, and the start of the Headlamps in the mudguards, in both the Short and Long Wheelbase versions, the Military 2a's at that stage were still being fitted with the Grille Mounted lamps, as we were still commited in South Vietman and the recessed lamps were standard stores.
The other main indicators for later model 2a's are: KeyStart Ignition, Flick type switches, Headlamp, Wiper, Panel lamp, the later speedo has the Oil,Main,Cold Start(Choke) lights in the lower section of the Speedo, the other gauge unit has only the Temp, Fuel and a Red Ign light in it (no Amp meter). The Handbrake lever has a 85% bend in it so the h/brake can be pulled on when wearing Seat Belts (they had belt mountings fitted when new) belts were not mandatary at that time.
Chassis Numbers had a "D" or later Suffix letter, 2a's ended at "G" ALL military 2a's had a raised chassis and extended rear shackles on the springs.
Hope that helps
