    D.I.Y.

This mornings work involved replacing front and rear pads as well as a complete change of brake and clutch fluids.

$160 plus a couple of hours of my time.

the pressure bleeder I bought a few years ago sure made things easier.

(must remember to get some caps for the bleed nipples or maybe a couple of spares for next time).

    Hi Bushie
    Way to go.
At least you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself.
And not been ripped off by a Stealer.
You go to pick it up from the dealer."Yes Mr Bushie, she is all ready to go, that will be $2995.00 thankyou." "What" "Sir your disc rotors were beyond the legal limit so we replaced them and the seals were leaking in the master cylinder so we did those whilst we were at it."

Hi Bushie. Where did you get the pressure bleeder from? Can you remember how much it cost you?

Oh, good stuff on the DIY, i find it more rewarding when you do it yourself, besides the fact you know it has been done properly. Matt

The pressure bleeder is a "Gunsons" bought it from the local spare place. I think it cost around $30 but that was at least 8 years ago.

They are nothing special just a plastic container and a couple of hoses, one of which hooks to a tyre to supply air pressure.

    Have a look here

http://www.bmw-m.net/TechProc/bleeder.htm (probably better than the one I have)

    Hi Bushie,

    Very helpful.

Maybe Vlad could have this enshrined in the useful tips section.

    A few questions.

How many kms are you getting from your pads, and

Did you check the rotors for wear and

If so at what minimum thickness should they be replaced?

There's that Ace Hardware again

Didn't check as there didn't feel like much wear using the calibrated fingernail method

from the defender manual thickness is 24mm front and 14.1 rear with 1mm wear allowed on each face.
