Yes, a 110 dual cab. I'd have one of those in a flash.

Spot on Henry!!!
What I think LRA are missing is that you can only trade off your 'heritage' for so long. They are burning credibility when they fail to support the foundations of the brand in the Australian market (Snowy, military, exploration etc).
I was reading the other day about Len Beadell and his old Landy. Toyota would be kill to be able to trade of this imagery. LRA ever thought about a limited edition Defender 'Beadell' which captured the spririt of those early pioneers and Landies? 8O
In any company there are sections that may need to be subsidised for the broader corporation. In my view, I would run the Defender range, if necessary at below cost, but to maintain the 'heritage' and imagery of the Land Rover brand. How many Discos/RRs/Freelanders have been sold off the reputation and mystique of the Series/110/Defenders??
With the new Defender (and the lower unit costs that come with it) you can then recoup some of the costs of the older model.
Just an idea.

Jeez, Noddy. Don't you know anything. Toyota built the Snowy. Quote:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>"In the late 1950s, construction boss Les Thiess (later Sir Leslie) began importing Toyota LandCruisers for work on Australia’s largest ever Hydroelectric Scheme in the Snowy Mountains. Sir Leslie found that the LandCruiser was far superior to the British and American four wheel drives, giving his company’s employees an added safety tool in the treacherous work conditions.
They even brought out a special edition Cruiser to celebrate 50 years association with the Snowy Mountains Hydro.
Toyo also had the Golden Anniversary model to celebrate their 50th.
Did LR bring out a 50th Anniversary model? I don't think so.

Ron -- I distinctly remember it, don't you worry. I was amazed at the audacity of Toyota to try and claim it 8O
But what really hurt even more was how LRA did not even batter an eye lid. They should have wacked an injunction on the ad and even run their own ads countering the claims of Toyo. Imagine the 'free' additional publicity they would have got out of the court case and battle that would have ensued.
What has now happended? There is a generation of Toyo owners who think the LC built the Snowy Scheme.
LRA lack 'mongrel' when it comes to defending their own heritage  It is one thing to lose your total market to another brand, but when they steal your heritage and re-write history that is something else! I lost a lot of respect for LRA after that debacle. :?
To sum it up, LRA need to get some balls!Quote:

This is one of those topics somebody at LRA should be looking at
brains and balls
you need an iq above five to keep your balls out of trouble!
Get out the angle grinder and put your money where your mouth is.... :twisted:Quote:

But what built the roads for the 'yotas to drive on :?: LAND ROVERS
What pulled out the 'yotas when they got bogged :?: LAND ROVERS
I remember nearly having an infarction when I saw a piece about Len Beadell on George Negus Tonight last year.
They showed some footage of him returning to some of the roads he made looked like it would have been early seventies. He was driving a Toyota. I was sitting with a troopy driver at the time and you can imagine...
Its a sad thing, but the relationship had to end eventually. But a thought on the limited edition thing. Ford are doing the Enforcer (Russell Ingall) and the Devil Racer (Ambrose) limited edition XR8's, why cant Land Rover take a similar personality on board who is well known in the world of 4wds, like Les Hiddens and create a limited edition run, of say the defender with heaps of added extras, i'd buy one.
