    Angry Bloody Indian Miner Birds

Family just witnessed a swarm of about 15 x Grey Indian Miner Birds attack and kill a dove!!

Bloody things gave it no chance - really upset my daughter.

New to Qld so do not know if it's legal to take them out.. But would love to pull out the old catapult.

When you say Dove is it a dove or a Pidgeon? the european pidgeon is an introduced pest also.

We used to have mangey Indian Mynas, they had lice or some parasites on them. Ugly looking critters. We befriended a family of Magpies and feed them. The maggies are territorial and will not tolerate and Indian Mynas and scare them away pronto. So our Myna problem is solved

The Noisy Miner is native to Australia:

The Indian Myna is an introduced pest:

Daughter was to upset so did not go over and take a close look. It looked like a turtle dove (not sure if that is what you call them in Aus) little to small to be an adult pigeon but may have been a juvenile.

It was the noisy miner - so being indigenous puts it off my catapult list. Still bloody vicious little buggers.

X 2 for magies, saw a magpie take out a myna while 4 other mynas were trying to 'intervene'. That magpie was tough and quick.

Check with your council, some offer a baiting program and supply cages for you to catch em.

If it was native Noisy Miners slaying an introduced Spotted Turtle Dove I'm all for it and they are showing excellent awareness of environmental issues.

A bunch of noisy miners make it dangerous to go for a walk around my house for a couple of months each year.
And I live in the suburbs. They're a royal PITA.

I get both here at different times. Generally when the noisy miners are here, the indian myna numbers are down. When the noisy miners numbers are down, the 12g comes out to keep the indian mynas in check.

The native noisy I'm ok with, the indian winged rats im not

    Bloody Indian Miner Birds

Noisy miners are cool native birds and are primarily nectar eaters so it's a surprise they'd have any beef with a dove / pigeon. They were probably drunk.

Around my parts the Ravens, kookaburras, currawongs and butcher birds keep the Indian mynars under control. The last mynar I saw in my yard lost its head to an agro currawong.
