I don't make anything an hour , I'm a self funded retiree , I can afford to pay $ 10 for a beer , My point was the Casino in Melbourne have a very good margin on there beer sales . If someone doesn't want to pay there price , they don't have too . The difference between them and say as small business , is they have much greater buying power to discount from the Brewery's It looks like they don't want to pass that on . Then of course that's up to them . I would have thought they do alright on there gambling side of the business . As for bar staff I'm not sure what they get paid ? I couldn't think It would be much above award , but they do employee a lot of people , and that has to be a good thing !!..
Yep and that is pretty much why we don't drink out much any more. Just to expensive. You get say 6 of you go out and it is common now to cost $60-$100 for a round and it always seems the ones not paying want to drink top shelf beer or spirits.
I fully agree, how can you charge $7 say for a Carlton Dry when a carton can be bought for $35 low and $40 high at a bottle shop so the pubs would be getting it for this or less. So $1-50 - $1-80. They cant use refrigeration as a reason as you can buy cold cartons. Yes I understand costs such as staff etc but $5-50 to $9-50 mark up, really? Same with spirits pre mixed.
