    MoveLater2 Cost of a Beer

Hi I went out with my son to a shown last Friday Night , This was at the Melbourne Casino . I must say It was very good , we saw Shane Jacobson . I went to the bar to get a couple of beers , I must say there were a lot of people at the bar , but they were getting served pretty quick . So I asked for two crownie's , the barman opened them put them on the bar , and said $20 . Now I don't know if that's the norm now , but It seems to me to be top $$ look at It this way , there are 24 bottles to a case , giving It a value of $240 . That looks like pretty good margins to me !! cheers Jim

You should try buying Jonny Walker Blue

Was at a conference last week and as it came to late on a couple of the evenings we all started drinking Jonny Walker Blue

    They were $35 each

And a bottle of that cost $200. That's one hell of a mark up.

    Coronas were $12 each.

Bob, It's all downhill from there. Before you know it you'll be wearing one of these for a quick refill in the men's room

A refill of what, in the mens' room, has to be the question. I will not drink anything that tastes like VB. Bob

Casinos are always expensive and Crown Lager is regarded as one of the class beers and top of the price bracket.
The average is around $8 for a premium beer but up to $10. $7 for a local or mid beer.
At the Perth Casino cost me $14 for a stubby of Jacks and Dry and $12 for a pint of Heineken.
At least in eastern stats beer on tap is not too badly priced.
The price for a pint of Heineken varies from $8-$16 depending on where you drink. Carlton Dry $8-$14.
I know when at the Community Club in SA Carlton Dry was $5 pint.

Hi Craig , yes your right about the cost of alcohol at any Casino , I suppose every business has a right to make a profit . and I don't have a problem with that . I expect It in smaller country pubs , that don't have big turnovers to charge a bit more , lots of them need to . In the case of the big boy's were the turnover is huge , It makes me wonder why they crank It up . I also except that we have a chose , No one forces anyone to go to a Casino , and no one says you have to buy a drink . I have been lucky I travel overseas usually twice a year , and have been doing so for many years . One of the things I like to do when away is have a beer . Here in Oz we pay so much more than many country's , but like so many other things here we have sold all our big Brewery's to overseas corporations , and I'm starting to wonder if that is having any bearing on cost , plus of course the Tax man wants his little bit !!.. cheers Jim .

When I travel I now stick to beer. I paid $25 for a G and T in Singapore once and about the same for a JD and coke in Geneva. Aussie dollar was pretty crap at the time. I soon switched back to beer.
