    Smart TV, beware

Technology "is getting better and better"
Just wonder if it can detect spanglish...............

Customers with Samsung's new Smart televisions are being warned that what they say could be recorded and distributed to a third party.

The policy advises customers to "please be aware that if your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party through your use of voice recognition."

LG has a very similar clause in its terms and conditions as well.

we live in a world where more or less, everything you do or say might be recorded and passed onto someone else.

even what buttons you push the most on your remote are recorded.

Ah it`s good some times to live a simpler life, no smart tv here. Just a plasma with a computer hooked up to it. Another point to consider as well. Smart tv is on the internet. Nothing stopping third party programs installing on your tv as well.

And if you get the upgrade, it will in a female voice:

    Finish your sentence
    Change the Channel
Tell you to mow the lawn

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

I just wonder how smart the people are who buy these. I saw a short clip from a promo video for this TV and to turn it on, you say 'Hello TV, turn on'. That takes like 10 times longer than pressing one button....

They deserve what they get for being so stupid in the first place IMO.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

If TV's were really smart, they would block out reality TV shows. Bob

The point surely is, to some extent, that into future there will be no choice... the next set you buy may well be "smart" in ways that you do not necessarily need or want.

Buying a new car will be the same, as a small example there will be no choice but to have "keyless start" button - a completely useless unwanted gimmick in my view.

how long can I keep my 4BD1 going? ...
