Yeah mate, my FJ was a two tone green 1955 Holden Special. Dark green over light green with button vinyl trim seats ( Elascofab it was called). I learnt how to double clutch when changing gears on this car because.......as you know, low gear was non-synchromesh.

I'm remembering the useless vacuum powered wipers........
Can't see the knob on the top of the dash in the picture.
    Maybe my memory is imperfect?

No, your memory is fine, this photo from a different angle shows the knob behind the steering wheel at about 10 o,clock. They were mongrels of things, the wipers sped up when you eased your foot off the accelerator and slowed down when you put your foot down.

Cream one is advertised for $35K, green one $25K.

Where you're working at the moment, you might even see one driving around. I came across one of them on a trailer at Kellerberrin a while back heading up to where you are - stopped and had a chat.

You probably even know the two brothers who collect and do these up. They've got a big workshop in the LIA opposite the road train entrance (ore) to the nickel concentrator crushing plant, and there's usually a lot of yellow trucks parked out the front.
    Cheers .........

MM maybe I do know them. They would have to be Joeys boys. Been years since I have seen them. Joe was big into speedway. My old man worked for him for a bit driving road trains. They had a few old FJs and a few American rusted cars sitting up behind the truck fuel up point for a long time. Maybe would get a discount for being Ex Kambalda residents. Even driven a few of their loaders when I was in production.
Wont get into town except for Fin and Fout days as on call 24 seven while up here at Lanfranchi. A bit disappointed I didn't get the full time job up here, but it is what it is and have shown management here that I am a legend. LOL, dropped right in it here without knowing any of the systems.
    So looking still.

Yes - is Joe and his brother Alan. Both living in Perth now. Joe not far from the office I was working at in Perth. I hired a bit of gear from him a while back for an additional crushing plant at Nullagine, and then we moved it down to Mt Magnet to crush some stemming for the contract there. Last time I saw Joe, he came into our office and was driving a big, flash Mercedes 4WD wagon (which he said was his wife's car).

Came across Alan more recently though. Spotted a Ford F250 with an FJ ute on a trailer behind it pulled up in Kellerberrin. Stopped for a chat and he said he was heading up to Kambalda with the ute.

Was wondering which site you were at down there - thought it might have been GoldFields. I suppose any work is worth taking at the moment. I'm back with my employer of the past few years again, but now working as a contractor / consultant from home. Currently working on the design of new or upgraded crushing plant and an iron ore beneficiation plant for Cockatoo Island. Should be at least a couple of months in it - and I'm home every night.
    Cheers .........

Aah! Yes, I remember Rock & Roll George well, I am from the same era in Brisbane, the car was owned by his grandmother (cream 53 air ride 215),George was a really nice guy of Greek heritage, and would take many a stranded teenaged girl home in complete safety, even the coppers would request his services as a taxi,I was saddened to hear of his passing, that car was reputed to have done 500,000 miles most of them up and down Queen St.
