No offence intended to you S.E. QLD'ers, there is a lot of fuss made over cyclones, but as it stands anywhere south of Bundy is only going to get wet - no gales! Best bet would be to grab the sand bags now before they are needed if you live in a low-lying area.

You haven't been through a cyclone unless you camped in it ;-)

    Cheers

Since 2008, it has been the procedure in Qld to inform of school closures at 0600, each morning. Bob

    A good cyclone kit, Bob

    Be Prepared:
    Preparation is
key to reducing your exposure to danger during a storm. Before
Tropical Cyclone Marcia arrives, create a storm preparation check-list with most, if not all items below:

A First Aid Kit, such as a Remote Max Kit Soft Pack which contains storm ready products including a torch and spare
A radio station list for emergency information List of emergency contact numbers
A supply of fresh water and tinned food, enough for you and your family for 3 days Reasonable supply of your prescribed medication
Strong, waterproof shows and rubber gloves
Waterproof bags for clothing, certificates, and valuables - keep the bag in a safe and place and be sure to pack it in advance
    • Mobile phone car charger.
    Be Aware:
It is important to be aware of the injuries and physical damage which Tropical Cyclone Marcia is capable of. Along with the 200-300mm of rain, strong winds and flash flooding comes fallen objects such as hail, house materials and tress, dangerous snakes and spiders flashed into your footpath by flood waters and fallen, not to mention, LIVE power lines.

    Be Smart:
One of the best things you can do during before, during and after Tropical Cyclone Marcia is use your brain. It doesn't mean you have to be a rocket scientist. Be smart, stay calm, and make safe decisions. "Remember, If It's Flooded, Forget It"
