Was going to make a sandwich for dinner. Went to woolies and the place is empty. Can't mention the word cyclone is Rockhampton without the crazy mums going out and picked the place clean.

Just spoke to our daughter in Gapuwiyak and she said it is starting to get blowy,

Here is a quote from BOM on Cyclone Lam

"Intensity: category 4, sustained winds near the centre of 165 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 230 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 20 kilometres of 11.9 degrees South, 135.5 degrees East , 20 kilometres north northwest of Galiwinku and 145 kilometres west northwest of Nhulunbuy .
Movement: southwest at 6 kilometres per hour ."

Galiwinku is the main town on Elcho has a population of about 2000 people

Well, now they are saying: A very destructive central core, spanning less than 100 kilometres, would generate gusts up to 295 kilometres an hour, the Bureau of Meteorology warned.

That it is not a breeze

Just wonder how much are going to move at the top the 2 or 3 tallest buildings in the Gold Coast with strong winds. I know that it is not going to blow that strong there but still will be and interesting experience.

I don't know what you are on about, Bob. I don't buy newspapers nor do I watch the news - and I don't watch free to air TV nor anything that hasn't been recorded. I had no idea there was a cyclone (or 2?) approaching Oz.

The first I heard of it was when I saw Eevo's post.

You have to give to them. Just been reported those remaining in St Lawrence have taken refuge in the runamuck bar. Be a good night tonight. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Ron, I apologise. An overreaction on my part. I have put up with sarcastic trolls on this forum for a while, over the years, and with my daughter in Gayndah, in the path of this monster, well,..., sorry mate. Please accept my apology. Bob

Chucaro, I think you will find Erich is discussing TC Lam off the NT and you are talking about TC Marcia off Qld.

Both are likely to be not a lot of fun...winds anywhere near those speeds are going to break things.

Erich hope your daughter and friends stay safe.... same goes for everyone in either storm...
