My daughter over the years has had many cars of all different makes, that have been driven into the ground, some have blown up beyond repair etc The only time the bonnet is raised is if they stop which has been often with some. Her last vehicle was a Toyota 4x4 V6 surf ?? I have had to do many patch ups on it during her ownership of it, it only got oil when the low oil light came on twice and anything else under the bonnet was only topped up when the fairies (lights) told her to.
Her uncle gave her his 1992 discovery 200TDI and since her ownership its had two washes and today is getting a cut and polish by her, touch up paint has been brought to fix some minor scratches and the roof rack is coming off as is dented the moulding around the guttering. We don't know for sure what it is but the whole interior has been cleaned her car usually looks like a garbage can that has never been emptied
When the wife and I remarked about her attitude towards the disco, her reply was I love the car, it great to driver and I want it to look great.

What a great story. To own a car is one thing. To love it is another. That takes a special vehicle. It sounds like she has found such a vehicle. But be warned. Zero maintenance will not produce a harmonious relationship with a TDI. Or any vehicle for that matter.
