To many people are quick to jump in and bag ladas, i would rather a lada than a cruiser. At least you know the suspension isnt going to fall off.

Hey boys,
With the exception of someones brother I don't think anyone has mentioned they have actually owner a Lada.
My first 4wd was a brand new Lada. What a great fun little car. One thing I can say for them, and I tried really hard, you can't bog them. ( that was with 3 6' blokes inside and a boot full of artillery. Just engage the difflock, low low and they will crawl out of just about anything.
You have to drive them like a truck,(they don't like hills) Good cheap travelling. Had inherant problems with the electrics, bosch aftermarket stuff fixed the CDI ignition( warranty) replaced the carby with a webber, got 2 mpg more, and a 2" exhaust. If you had a size 10 shoe you could push the clutch brake and accelerater all at once, the blinkers were on the landrover side, and ride, it was was a soft armchair.
I would love another if I could find a decent one.
They get a bit small when you put in a baby seat and sit a large german shepherd dog in the back.
Someone mentioned a v6 , lada australia did a project car in the ealry 90's and I think they did put a v6 in it , but can't remember how it went. The report was in overlander or 4wd monthly years ago.
