What is Brisbane like?

Go for it Greylandy, anywhere is better than sydney. Stacey and I thought about a move north to QLD, but with all the family right here, it didnt seem fair to take little Marcos away from his grandparents and great grandparents. We have decided a move to the south coast to terrorise Disco95 instead. Much closer and easier to transfer teaching positions within NSW, moving to QLD is like quitting for me. Good luck with it henry. Spending some time up there first is definitely the way to go, and how could you complain with all those offers. Matt

Ok, after reading this thread Stacey and I have decided to give QLD ago, it wont be for a few years yet, stacey has to enrol in and finish UNI first so 4yrs time is the plan. Save up and pay of all debts, car loans etc and get a house deposit together. After looking on the net at at house prices, stacey found a 4br House, on 40acres, with a 12acre unlimited irrigation licence, water frontage and sheds, all for the low price of $225000, for that sort of land here with an irrigation licence we would be likely to pay near or above 4 times that. We are aiming to come up and have a look around next june/july xmas holidays. I am going to take leave without pay from school for 3years, so we have the option, of moving back if we get home sick.

I was wondering if people can make some suggestions as to where i could go for work, in a school obviously. I dont want to teach in brisbane, nor woould i be able to get a position, so in small towns that arent to far from civilisation. Matt
