Spread some sugar around. The ants will swarm and drive the birds away.
Not sure which would be the worst ants or birds.
I haven't owned a firearm for many years, but I do remember it being in the rule book when you applied for a shooters license.
I'm sure I wouldn't be happy with a neighbour across the road firing a firearm within range of whatever you're firing, Might be different in SA, regards Frank.
I had possums and rats in our garage, flashed across the top of the roller doors, fixed the problem.
The pic below is with the door open, when shut a bird would not be able to get in.
If they get in during the day,and get locked in overnight when you shut the door,i bet they don't come back again.

Last year I had Swallows' nesting in the garage , wasn't too bad untill the young started leaving the nest & boy did they make a mess of my 80". This year a couple of Asian Minor Birds have moved in & just this the Swallow's have also moved back. I have tried the plastic owls but they just sit on there heads, also tried hosing them , a laser light & removing the nest nothing has worked . Somebody said the other day to hang CD's with fishing line so may try that . I don't want to hurt them just get them to move on.
The bird spike strips are an effective deterrent.
