Yep .... Bendigo weather is WAY better than ballarat area. The divide makes all the difference. Ballarat is on top of a mountain inside a bowl. In the middle of winter, if you drive 20minutes in any direction, the sky will clear ... and it'll be 3->4 degrees warmer.

Death by 1000 cuts sounds like. I've often thought of retraining and doing something else.

I've always been highly regarded with my skill set however I often wonder if the inevitable is just going to take place. I'm not quite sure...

Sounds like what I was doing yesterday, fly in and out of Launceston in same day. leave home at 5am for flight, full day work, get home at 10pm thanks to delays at the airport. The things you do when work is in short supply :censored:

Melbourne is a great place to live.
However, as far as you "living here", first I reckon you need to make sure that you can get a job here. So I'd do nothing until I actually had a job.
When you've achieved that, there's not a doubt in the World that you'd find somwhere suitable to live, whether it be in the burbs or further out.

Hi Guys

I totally understand where you are coming from and although this might not be helpful in getting you a job I live on the Bellarine Peninsula not far from Geelong in Victoria. A few years ago I found myself in a similar position and thought commuting to Melbourne and Glen Iris on the other side was doable. I clearly remember after spending nearly 3 hours getting there one morning stepping off the train when an old bloke with a little dog was getting on. The bloke not the dog said as we passed, "Cheer up you miserable B:censored: life cant be that bad". I will be eternally grateful to that bloke for telling me what I could not see in myself. I resigned at the end of that week and another job came from nowhere in Geelong. Explore any and all options before even looking at the city from your self description the city will kill you one way or another, I know it was doing that to me.
