I love reading these kind of animal stories. A book I read recently was called "From Baghdad With Love" and is the story of a puppy called Lava that was rescued in war torn Iraq and against all odds was taken back to the USA. Loved that book, it was a heart warming read.

Another good read is the story of "Horrie The War Dog". Set in WW2 Horrie was also found as a puppy and saved many a life as he could hear the German planes coming and gave advanced warning to the Australian soldiers. Horrie was smuggled into Australia and lived a full life in retirement, eventually dying of old age in the early 1950's.
