Not Miena Dam - further south.
Apologies for the clue regarding the area that I'm parked on. It certainly appeared to be a dam wall at the time, however upon thinking about the siting of the wall and subsequent research of the area it may be the result of some open cut mining.
The natural alloy mined in this area was quite rare and at the time of mining was considerably more valuable than gold.

Correct - and here's a couple of links for anyone who wants to know more about this very interesting area and the osmiridium that was mined there.
