There are two lighthouses at Queenscliff and although both are made from the same bluestone, only the White Lighthouse was painted, so that people could easily distinguish between the two during daylight.

The white and black lighthouses are aligned to indicate the channel through the heads as it is quite narrow.
One is also higher than the other to further enhance this effect.
While i was touring the fort a ship navigated the channel and i stood in front of the black lighthouse and watched it turn and disappear from sight behind the white lighthouse as it passed through the channel.
Very lucky to actually see it happening.
Anyway this thread is not a lighthouse quiz so over to you
Cheers.

Correct - back to you.
Well good old google found that one.
Been up the Reefton Spur to many times to mention.
My father and his mates built a shack on a ridge just out of Matlock. Gone now, bulldozed during a bushfire.
Many an ale downed in the Woods Point pub.
I will find a pic tonight to continue what has been an interesting and informative thread.
