Not on a direct route from Winton Baz - although, why would you take the direct route when there's a more interesting alternative!
Yes Jon, it is south of Windorah - that's narrowed it down to a little corner of Qld. without many through routes.
Is it Betoota?
SE of Betoota
Still got no idea. Are we as far east as Noccundra?
NW of Noccundra.
You've pretty well nailed the area, all you need is the name of the property and it's on a fairly direct route from Birdsville to home.
Arrabury?
That was a hard one Roger. I thought it may have been Betoota because of the dates you mentioned even though I couldn't recognise it. I'd looked at Arrabury earlier but dismissed it because Arrabury isn't abandoned - the Arrabury Pastoral Company is still going. It's only the homestead that's abandoned.
I only got it because I found this photo this afternoon:
Arrabury Station, Channel Country, Queensland, ca. 1966 [transparency]
Anyway, here's an easy one to get us into the weekend. A pleasant stroll along the beach for a change:

You did well with spotting the meat house in that photo and you are correct regarding the fact that it isn't abandoned. That's why I edited it to 'vacated' in the original post when I added the clue yesterday morning - maybe you didn't notice that & were still looking for an abandoned property. Got to be sneaky sometimes to slow you down a bit. :whistling:
The very white sand in your beach shot has me thinking Jervis Bay area - how about Green Patch?
