Windorah?
Windorah from Woomera is an overshoot. If you kept going to Blackall you'd have to go half way back. Definitely not a boring adventure though.
That would place you near Innamincka.
I'd guess from the clues that he's slightly west of the junction of the Bore Track and the Adventure Way, about 13kms east of Innamincka having just been to the Dig Tree.
Maybe at 27.75*S 140.86*E
Can't see any dam by the name of Pod on any of my maps though. [bigwhistle]
I was thinking I'd accept Innamincka as the nearest settlement, but Xtreme has read the clues so superbly that I have to hand it to him. The road in the picture is the Adventure Way, not far out of Innamincka on the way to the Dig Tree- just a couple of kilometers west of the turnoff to Cullyamurra waterhole / Bourke's Grave. The northern end of the Bore Track is just a couple of kilometers further west. This photo was taken in 2012 or 2013; the sign was still up when we passed by last month. Haven't been down the track to see what Pods Dam actually looks like and it's difficult to pick out any major waterways in the vicinity on Google Earth, but from the name alone I'm sure it is a magnificent spectacle.[bigsmile1]
Thanks POD but I'm a bit busy ATM trying to meet a deadline so I'll flick pass back to bee utey - he was just as close as me, just didn't have the detail.
So, where to now bee utey?
I've got nothing left except some city shots, someone else can have a go perhaps.
I've been on that road, but didn't recognize it.
OK then, here's a quick, easy one just to keep things rolling ....... I'm after the location where the picture was taken from.
