    I don't know where 'The Castle" is so I don't know if I'm in the correct state, but a stab in the dark , it looks a bit like the country about 100km west of Longreach so .... Mt Haystack ???

    Nowhere near Longreach or Springsure.

    The Castle is a few k's NW of the better known Pigeon House Mountain inland from Ulladulla on the NSW south coast.

    So NSW is the state and as an extra hint, the location I'm after is north of The Castle.

    Looks like it's time for another clue so here's another photo taken earlier on the same day as the photos in post #1989 which were taken from the centre of this one which gives an idea of the surrounding countryside -
