G'day Sclarke, sounds like you all had a ball. I did a little 4WDing in that area some time back, nothing too hard, but always wanted to go with some people who had more balls than the ones I was with.
I've heard the Wanangatta track's really tough, especially with a bit of rain on it. What's it like now? Does it still have the same reputation as it did 15 years ago?

When I was at Licola the Lexus with Kimberley camper arrived. I told my Missus that this guys got dollars to spend. Anyway when I left to go to Heyfield the Lexus left and I had to put the foot down to pull away from the Lexus. He was keeping up with me until we got into the real twisty stuff. I don't usually plod along on the bitumen and the D3 once it is up to speed is just as fast as any Subbie on the twisty stuff until you get a steep ascent. Imagine that a Lexus with KK in tow pasing a D3!! I would have had to hold my head in shame. Anyway rest assured I lost him in the twisty stuff and never saw him again .

Did you have your UHF on?
In the arvo the Lexus was in convoy with us from heyfeild to Melb, they live in Berwick.
Wow suprised we did not see each other in the Flesh...
What road did you come into Licola from?? the windy new bitumen part? with no armco railing??

I came into Licola on the Tamboritha Rd. I think it is windy bitumen one. I got into Licola about 3.30pm. Had an ice cream, watched some trail bike riders load their bikes onto a ute then headed back to Melb about 4.00pm. This is about the time the Lexues arrived. I left the UHF on and I remember having a laugh with these people singing "One little duck over the way.....quack quack quack" Was that you guys? There was also a conversation which was about their 4WD trip and thanks to one another. This might have been your group.
BTW that river crossing would have been too deep for me and the exit looks like my road tyres would have struggled to make it up.

I shiet you not, you were minutes behind us...
if i had of travelled at a smart speed you would have caught us.
Yep it was us singing. we were tuned into 91.9 and it was a kids show...
Small world...
Yep i should have opted out for the river crossing but it was still fun...
I suffer peergroup pressure. if there is a crowd i loose my marbles...
Ask my old Navigator......
i managed to stick a old 1971 Volvo rally car thru a gate and cattle grid sidways at some frightening speed. Best part about it was that special stage i was fastest outright, i even blew off WRX's and Evo lancers... How??? easy i did not back off for the yumps or cattle grids....

I'll tell my wife the singing was you guys. That'll give her a laugh. My 4 year old kept on asking me to let him talk on the UHF to the quack quack song.
Did you see the steam tractors near Glenmaggie? If you did how about the one which had rollers that were leaving a nice trail up the bitumen.
Peer group pressure
! That's probably why I wouldn't join one of your trips. It would get the better of me as well. Good to see a 2WD Volvo blowing away 4WD WRX's and EVO's I bet there were a few smart ass comments like "Bloody Volvo Driver" after you set fastest stage time. It's not what you got but how you use it - right?
