He was a man, understated , humble, a team player, and respected by all who knew him. Undefeated as Captain of the Australian cricket team. With a wonderful attitude to life, and an example to all Australians how to live a good life. You are missing something, and I genuinely feel sorry for you. Bob

For those of us who do not understand that tribal mentality, you are so far out of touch with the human condition, and actually isolated, and alone. Bob

It was not my intention to disregard what he has done. I agree he was a great person. To me it is about the way we support or put people into a level above us.
Why do you need to do that. As stated in other posts we all need to be part of a tribe. I don't ,be it ,sport or other.. As stated I respected the man I just thought the media was over the top. And I don't need to be part of a tribe or support a team to feel good. I feel good in my own skin. Without needing artificial satisfaction from a team who wins on my so called support.
The biggest problem in the world is tribalism we are better than others.

Every now and then a person comes along that is special, for different reasons. Richie was one of them.

He has enhanced the life of millions of people world wide.

This is a bloke, who thru his fame, could have been a bit up himself like a lot of celebrities.
However, as has been mentioned you could not get a more humble person.

Knowing there are people who don't understand this, I think is sad.

If everyone was like Richie, the world would be a far better place. When I heard the news I was sad.
I have just watched a YouTube of his inducement into the hall of fame. By the time it had finished I had tears down my cheeks.
