We've used an 1100watt 12v pure sine wave inverter (Latronics) for probably 7-8 years and not a problem at all (touch wood). Latronics are on the Sunshine Coast (Moffat Beach) and they made the gear there. I'm not sure if it still made here but I suspect so. The inverter is mounted in an empty meter box in a 2 foot wide breeze way between the house and a concrete water tank so there isn't any vibration at all.
No, I don't think so. Opened it up and there is nothing to suggest that. A caravan is a common home for inverters and the suspension works well on the van.Quote:

Look up ACCC website and have a read. Thats just a quick snippet on there so should be able to tell them that you dont care about what their warranty says you go off the consumer laws and they are not discharging their obligations to offer an acceptable quality product!!

Didn't damage it though, should be able to make it look like new. I'll have another crack tomorrow.

Having purchased a bunch of Australian made Selectronics sine wave inverters a few years ago, I'm hooked. Their 400W one has more grunt than my 1000W Jaycar one. I can run the house water pump off it where the Jaycar one just trips out. There's one on ebay at the moment for $400.

So I bought the one on ebay.... :D. Sorry if you had your eyes in it, but couldn't pass it up. Hope we're still friends? I need one for camping in a couple of weeks...
I'll go give the other supplier hell and see if I can get my money back to fund this one. That's a bit arse about, but what the hey...
If this one dies, I'll know it's user error or where I'm keeping it! Not expecting that though. Very high end unit.
At least this one looks like it is serviceable should anything go wrong.
In my camper van I have been running a projecta brand 600w modified sine wave for ten years and done some bad things to it and it comes back for more.
I have another one exactly the same which I use as a portable one for running a small grinder or drill for jobs in the paddock and its still going strong.
My garage is powered by a 2000w mod sine wave and has been for years.
I found the projects range value for money.
The biggest secret is don't go for a full sine wave but a mod sine wave as the electronics is simpler and more reliable.
Mod sine wave will run a computer and charge camera s, run TVs etc.
The only thing it will not do is run fluros and variable speed electric motors.
Fluros can be run with mods.
The other secret is they need serious 12 volt current , so the power cables need to reflect this.
PIC below is the one in my camper.............it is in a storage compartment and eats dust for breakfast.
