Back when I was doing it we would leave the return line from the cooler off at the box and run a few litres of oil through it.

It was an acceptable practice back then. Not sure about now though.

A&B will tell you what they expect done.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Graeme from Impact Auto's told me yesterday that there is a very strict protocol with A&B. They list a series of tests which must be carried out to the letter and a report back to them. If this is not done, A&B immediately void their warranty and the onus goes back onto the installer.

One of the tests seems to be along the lines suggested by Dave in that the volume of coolant going through the lines is carefully measured, I can only assume this is done as per Dave's suggestion.

Needless to say, Graeme has assured me that he'll be doing it all 'by the book'.

He did tell me that he has already run compressed air both ways through the cooler and there appears to be no restriction. He also said that once the testing was complete, if there was a need to replace lines, or the cooler, that this would be done. All at Numpty's expense of course.

    G'Day Wardy,

Would it be possible to get your vehicle on a tilt tray truck and get it sent to A & B instead of acting through an intermediary? Cut out the middle man. Something about too many cooks springs to mind!

Coming from Queensland I am not sure of the distance involved between the two workshops.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

I really have to abide by the way the Shepparton Numpty wants to do things mate. He is the one picking up the tab.

I hear you though. We'll see.

I do have a pretty good feeling about Graeme in Croydon though

I'm in Mackay this week for work.

The replacement box arrived last Friday at Croydon (a week late), Graeme was going to get started on it then. I told him to take his time and make sure it's right before I get back this Saturday.

I'm guessing things at e going ok as I've heard nothing to the contrary. I'll hopefully wrap up this saga on Monday.

    WELL......IT's IN!

    Finally.....
Got home from Mackay yesterday afternoon and there sitting out front was my car as promised.

Couldn't wait to get in the old girl and see how it all felt. Frankly, it's just brilliant! I can barely feel the changes, it all locks up when and as it should and it's soooooo quiet

A huge thankyou to Graeme at Impact Automatics in Croydon. His service was nothing short of brilliant even lending me a car whilst all this was being sorted. I can't recommend him highly enough.

The boys at A&B certainly seem to know their stuff too.

FINALLY I hope this story is at an end
