Cattle Grazing in the High Country - your opinion

Who thinks that cattle grazing in the High Country should be stopped?

    It's been a tradition for 100+ years.

If it wasn't for the cattlemen we wouldn't have as many tracks would we.

STOP BRACKS AND THWAITES IN THEIR TRACKS!
The mountain cattlemen are everybit as much a part of our heritage as the Anzacs, Flinders, Bourke and Wills and the like.
They love the high country just as we do. They take care of it, they don't damage it.
Support these guys...once they are gone, you have to assume that WE are next on this ridiculous and underhanded agenda.

I heard the other day that there are about 250 National Park Rangers to look after 12% of the area of NSW (This is Bob Carr's legacy) With a stroke of the pen Crown Land is regazetted as National Park. That doesn't seem like good management but rather expedient politics.

The High Country seemed to be a place where for once there seemed to be a balance between us and nature. But I guess now we will never know because if it goes the way of other places we won't be allowed to go there anymore.

Stay at home and watch it on TV.

Once the cattle are removed, then they will no longer "foul up waterways." Waterways which are currently crystal clear and filled with fish.

That will allow bush tucker to grow again in the high country. The waterways will be choked with blackberries. (yum yum - bush tucker)

Every few years (state government budget permitting) the blackberries will be sprayed. This will create some well burning bracken, it will also poison the water ways and fish and the birds and animals that eat blackberries or drink water. And anything else up the food chain.

Then there'll be no animals to foul the waterways.

The government can then open up the high country to all Victorians by giving a 99 year lease to a Resort to build some ski resorts and ski runs. Then we can all pay resort fees (booked 6 months in advance) to go and enjoy our natural environment. And don't forget the State park fee attached to that resort fee, which will go up each year.

Guys, if the government is going to destroy things, they got to start somewhere, and getting rid of the cattle is a start.

At least the X-5s and Cayennes won't get bogged on these new gravel high country tracks.

Don't mention the 4 lettered word TOLL in any emails to Bracks. He'll invent a new toll for all fourbie owners to pay enter any National Parks in Vic.

We got enough tolls and fees as it is 8O
