sedans worse than some 4wd for reversing blind spots.......

Most cars have bad reversing visibility: NRMA

A study by NRMA has found four-wheel drives are not the worst cars when it comes to reversing blind spots.

The insurance company's Reversing Visibility Index found all but one of the 220 cars tested have dangerous reversing blind spots, extending up to 20 metres behind the car.

The NRMA says every week a child is run over in the driveway of their home, and it usually involves a parent reversing a car.

Senior mechanical engineer Adam Macbeth says all cars have blind spots, but reversing cameras dramatically improve a driver's chances of seeing a child behind the car.

"Four-wheel drives actually out perform some of Australia's top selling medium and large sedans, for example the Holden Commodore fares quite poorly in our results," he said.

"It has a zero star rating and blind area that stretches over for 15 metres behind the rear of the car."

Mr Scrubby (big goose) please do some proper research .

Please look at seeking media attention and ban all Commodore sedans from School zones - they are too dangerous.

As a daily commode commuter I can vouch for the visibility aspect.

    Both front and back.

But "perception is 90% of reality": the idiots excuse for being ignorant and being too lazy to do anything about that condition.

The NRMA guy said on ACA when they did the article that the VY COmmodore is worse than the 100 series cruiser. Matt

    8) its not just the vehicle, some people don't look,
    some are too short, and
    some kids are very fast.
    its just another beatup.
