QUEENSLAND REDS SUPPORT WOUNDED MATES
The Australian Armed Forces were recently at Brisbane's Ballymore stadium for their Australian Inter-Brigade Rugby Tournament. Ahead of the cup finals, Ben Daly and Dan Herbert presented Mates4Mates with a cheque for the funds Queensland Rugby raised through the auction of the Reds' ANZAC Round jerseys. The donation totalled just under $18,000. A huge thank you to all involved, especially QRU and Brisbane's 7th Brigade for their support!
ANZAC PRIZE WINNERS WELCOMED HOME
Queensland Premier Anastacia Palaszczuk recently welcomed home the 2015 Premier's Anzac Prize winners who participated in the historic Anzac Centenary commemoration at Gallipoli. Participants marked their return with a post-tour presentation to the Premier and Minister for Education, Kate Jones, at a ceremony at Parliament House. The young students also took the opportunity to present a fundraising contribution of more than $20,000 to Mates4Mates. Thank you for this generous donation from students at Townsville's Pimlico State High School. The funds raised will go towards rehabilitation programs for wounded, injured and ill Mates and their families.
SUPPORTER THANKS
Thank you to the Buderim Craft Cottage for your generous donation. The Buderim Craft Cottage is made up of approximately 12 different groups including needle work, pottery, silver smiths, painters, photographers to name a few. The ladies have been putting together a collection of their works over the past twelve months or so to sell. The items went on sale on the ANZAC Day weekend and all the proceeds went to Mates4Mates. Thank you for your support.
A special thank you to Tasmania's Adam Murphy. Adam is an Australian Soldier with 11 years? service to the Australian Army. During that time he's been deployed to the Middle East and has seen first-hand the effects that deployments can have on both serving members and their families. To show his support for Mates in need, Adam trekked from Launceston to Hobart to raise funds for Mates4Mates. He raised over $5,000 ? an incredible amount for one person! Thank you, Adam.
