Sorry Dave ... 8pm - 10pm weekdays is Shoulder Rate.

I think last time I worked out the equivalent flat rate it was around $0.18c/kWHr ... maybe 18 months ago ... whereas Mum & Dad who are on a Flat Rate metering system (old fashioned spinning wheel meters) were around $0.25c/kWHr.

Alot of people get confused with the time of use metering system (understandably) ... but it's simple if you work on the premise that you AVOID 2-8pm weekdays ... any other time, it's cheap!

If I get a chance I'll see what my last bill works out at ...

When I shifted here 15 years ago the whole house was on off peak from 11 pm to 7am Mon to Fri and 11pm Fri to 7am Mon. It was 3.5 cents per KW.

I used to call it free power it was so cheap.

A few years later I had the whole caravan park changed to the same.
It was called "Winner Tariff" from memory and was available as far back as 1990. Great way to go if you manage your power use to suit it.
We also had it for our irrigation pump on our vineyard. Back then six hours off peak equated to one hour of peak time. Then after about ten years they decided to double the cost of off peak power.

    Cheers, Mick.

Going on holidays is a luxury. Electricity is an essential item.

    See the problem now?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    1 - We'd ALL love free power ...

    2 - It AIN'T gonna happen !

3 - I choose not to holiday during school holiday periods cause it's too expensive ...

... must have some "scott" in my heritage

By comparison, my sisters family of 5, who live in Nth Turramurra, and pay no attention to the time of use power charges get an electricty bill of around $1600 !!

I NEED to play the game so I have enough spare cash to keep my Land Rover on the road !!
