There is no more dealer support for Toyota's in the bush than any other make,if something goes wrong all the ''dealers'' do is order a truck to Perth or order the parts they never have ex Japan. Pat

This is true. Dealers hold minimal inventory nowdays and order most stuff in as required. This is as true of Toyota as anyone else. LRs are no different.

Re. fuel consumption, so far the best with my Tdci with the Steinbaur chip is 9.0 l/100km and the worst was 10.8, while towing the camper trailer at 100-110 into a headwind. I'm very happy with that.

Except that there are mechanics in virtually every small town who work on Toyotas.

You miss the point. Not talking about "dealers", just the average mechanic in a remote area. Why, I would not take my D2 to a mechanic in Brisbane if I didn't think he/ she was switched on to Land Rovers. One of our members doing the big trip , in west Aus., having starting problems, was told by a mechanic in a reputable shop, his fuel pump needed replacing. Two fuel pumps later, still with a problem, he approached the local independent LR dealer, Redcliffe, to be told it was a simple membrane on top of the fuel filter. Fixed, at a fraction of the cost. Every second vehicle out west is a Toyota. The maintenance network favours Toyota, mechanics know Toyota. Any one who doesn't recognise that, is in denial. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Just for those who have not already realised it, there is a Redcliffe in Qld, as well as WA. Lots of duplicated place names in Australia!
