    Explosion..

It was a happy day, I picked up my new Defender... A massive explosion in a cafe in my town today had injured 20 people. I know one of the girls in the kitchen who got the worst of it so worried.. I am also in the brigade and I was getting my new car and I was not there to help I feel bad about that too
I want to know more but I dont want to bother the family so worried..

Fate and murphy deal some truely crudful hands.

    my advice..

go speak to the family, as bad as you think you feel and all the questions your asking yourself i guarentee they're asking the same thing a million times over. they're going to need support, offer them a meal, to drive them to and fro anything, let them kmow that as a friend of their daughter you want to help them. They may not even know what to ask for they could ask for something stupidly mundane like taking the dog for a walk or ducking own to the corner shop to get milk and biscuts, smile, say of course and do it.

hell if shes been hospitalised and they're maintaining a vigil for her offer to take a stint with them by the bed to keep her company so they can take a break every now and then so they know that she wont be alone (assuming shes that far out of it) or little things to help out the family member thats there.

dont push, leeve them your number in case they think of anything.

trust me on this. they're going to need help but they wont know what.

last time I got involved me and some other guys took turns in driving the family members to and from the hospital some nights it was the company of someone else in the room for the family member to talk to that was more important than being driven back and forth.

The wife phoned me yesterday to tell me about it.
She had just driven back from Atherton into absolute chaos. She got out of town as quickly as possible once she knew what was happening so she would not get in the way of anything.
When she picked the kids up from school there were helicopters & ambulances everywhere, she was pretty upset but seems OK now.

Terrible thing for our little town which has been struggling anyway.

The only good thing was it happened when school was in, no kids in the caf?.

I did not know there was another Ravenshoe member
Yes it is horrible, so glad the kids were at school, but it was a pity the oldies were having a tea morning and the cafe was full
