This is not uncommon with VHF stuff. All you need to do is sort out a line filter for the power supply. With most vehicles with electronic injection systems (excellent little RF transmitters they are) and just about all petrol motors you get RF pulsing through the main power supply - if not that often the alternator does it. It's a relatively easy fix. I have a 27MHz unit in the V8 Disco and I get the same thing.

So how many people still use 27Mhz ?
I have an old (tweaked) set that I've never bothered fitting as I thought 27Mhz was basically dead. Isn't it going to be outlawed soon, anyway ?
If people are still using it, I may just fit the old girl.
thats just the point......40 channels all to myself...no one uses it anymore
and im getting sick of the ratbagging on uhf....besides...27meg goes a further distance than uhf...

a high pass filter?
will that work for the injector noise?
Back in my younger geeky days I tinkered with radio a lot. Don't underestimate how far a well tuned, well grounded 27Meg rig can throw a signal. From Melbourne I caught a bloke in WA on a sideband rig using a home made half wave antenna and home made tuner. Also chatted briefly with someone in NZ at night! 27MHz used to be crammed with whackers, but now everyone has gone to UHF. My Disco came with a 27MHz unit fitted, and having thought about it I think I'll leave it in there. I have UHF handhelds, but they will only ever be for short range stuff. Bring on the retro CBers!

how about a Kraco 23 channel SSB set, with the power turned up internally (approx double wattage, shhh) , a Gleason power mike and a Lepstick antenna ? 8O
How much more retro can ya get ?
Only if you put it in the Sandman... What am I talking about, I am only 28!
