Espresso is not much different to plunger. If you acquire a taste for strong black coffee, you can have your coffee anywhere.
Quick true story... The father inlaw years ago was a conference in Rome (he is Italian). Each morning he stood at the bar drinking his coffee and watch what went on. He noticed the guy who took the orders asking if people wanted sugar with the coffee. Then he told the guy who makes the coffee, one coffee with sugar. My father in law was confused as when the coffee arrived at the counter it was the guy who took the orders who put the sachet of sugar on the tray. Why he wonders is he telling the guy in the back about the sugar with the coffee when he has nothing to do with adding the sugar? He askes and the guy at the counter when things quiten down and he told my father in law what was really going on.. The guy taking the order said you cant taste how strong a coffee is when there is sugar in it so he tells the guy at the back when someone wants sugar, the guy making the coffee in this case only adds half the amount of coffee. My father in law was shocked at why anyone whould do this, the guy said they serve hundreds of coffee's a weeks and the half shots give both of them free coffee to take home for their families  I love Italy, but this con is so Italian. As much os what they were doing was very wrong with sugar in coffee it is very hard indeed to taste how strong it really is. I personally hate sweet stuff full stop so coffee, tea actually anything is without sugar.

Clearly from this mornings newspaper none of us are ever going to have anything to worry about :)

A top shot does not need sugar, especially in a milk based drink.
Cheers
End of instant
I have an espresso machine and good grinder (Iberital Challenge) in my garage. They haven't been used in the past couple of years as I cannot make a good coffee.
So I go to the local roaster each day and have a coffee there.
Oh, no sugar in tea or coffee. I drink white tea, and black coffee - except when I have a cappuccino.
When camping, I have good ceramic conical burr grinder (Porlex JP30 - 10 Easy Pieces: Coffee Grinders: Remodelista) and a moka pot.
